The star rating: 5 = luxury 4 = excellent but a bit less expensive B= Very nice, mid-range C = Nice, budget-conscious is also referred to as A, B, or C class in some guidebooks and on some websites. A Class = 4-5 stars. B Class = 3 stars. C Class = 2 stars. In alphabetical order, they are:

*** Plaka Hotel, 7 Kapnikareas & Mitropoleus Sts., Plaka, Athens. www.plakahotel.gr.  Inexpensive but comfortable; recently renovated.

AT THE AIRPORT

***** Sofitel (Athens Airport), El Venizelos International Airport. Pricey but you can’t beat the convenience – it’s directly across from the entrance to the terminals. Great if you have a VERY early morning flight. https://sofitelathensairport.com-hotel.com/

Very near the airport with 24/7 shuttle ****1/2 Holiday Inn Athens, Attica Avenue, Athens 19002.  Phone: +210-668-9100. Clients rave about this less pricey hotel – about 7 miles/9 minutes to the airport by shuttle.  www.hiathens.com
