Come Sail With Us...
…for an insider’s look at the Greek Islands!
S/Y Stressbuster
Stressbuster is an Atlantic 65 Custom sailing cutter. She can accommodate a maximum of 6 guests in 3 double guest cabins. For optimal personal space onboard, 4 guests is ideal. The boat sails very well in the breezy Aegean (see details below). Captain Kostas and his wife, Lynda Morris Childress, your crew/cook/hostess, will offer you genuine hospitality and share their knowledge of the Greek islands, culture, and cuisine. They treat guests like family -- and make sure every guest feels relaxed and at home.
The boat was designed by John Raptis and built by Atlantic Yachts in Greece in 1989. The Atlantic is a classic cutter with ocean sailing capability and a beautiful teak interior, designed specifically for the charter trade. (Compare to: similar vintage Oyster 65). We keep the boat in pristine condition. She has 3 identical double-bed guest cabins off the saloon (main living area); two storage cabins, plus one cabin for captain/crew, with separate outside entrance. Each guest each guest cabin has a private head (toilet)/shower. With a 16-foot-wide beam, she’s VERY roomy both down below and in the large cockpit. She has 6-foot, 6-inch headroom and bunks that will comfortably accommodate tall guests. The boat is comfortable and stable under sail; no excessive heeling. Average speed under sail and wind power (with a comfortable breeze) is 6 to 7 knots. Cruising speed under power is similar.

Who We Are
Meet Your Hosts...

We're a friendly, easygoing couple who treat guests as family and make sure they feel comfortable and at home on the boat. Kostas is a history buff for anyone interested in learning more about Greek history; Lynda is a working journalist and loves to share her observations about day-to-day Greek culture through the eyes of an expat who fell in love with a Greek, the country, and its people.
Bios in Brief
Captain Kostas Ghiokas and his wife, crew/cook Lynda Childress, have been sailing together since 1997, when they met on a sailing trip in Greece; they've sailed together professionally as captain/crew/cook since 2000. After 3 years of working on various other boats, in 2003 they married, bought their Atlantic 70 Custom cutter, Stressbuster, and started their own small company: Greece Sailing Charters. The boat is based at Salamina Marina on the Island of Salamis, about 1.5 miles off the coast of Athens and easily accessible by taxi and short ferry ride.
Kostas is a native Greek, hailing from the southern coastal Athens suburb of Glyfada. He grew up sailing, was an Olympic-class dinghy (Finn class) sailor, and designed his first boat at age 12. He is now a naval architect, and is a Royal Yachting Association (RYA)-licensed Yacht Master. He's sailed the Aegean Sea and islands and beyond as a professional skipper since 1980.
Lynda is American, grew up sailing in Newport, Rhode Island, and was managing editor of Cruising World Magazine for 15 years before meeting and marrying Kostas and moving to Greece. Currently she is a CW Editor at Large and editor of its popular “Sailor & Galley” column. She also is a regular contributor to other yachting publications.
They love meeting new people, getting to know their guests, and sharing their passion for sailing the Greek Isles, cooking, good food, and fun!

Where We Sail
We customize our itineraries for each group based on guests' & interests and preferences. There are many beautiful places in each of these island groups. Please email us for HERE more detailed sample itineraries.
The Saronic Islands and Peloponnese Coast
Time needed: 7 DAYS minimum

Ideal for a one-week time frame. Closer to the mainland; sheltered, easy sailing; less touristy; more off-the-beaten-path. Highlights: Poros, the closest of all the Greek islands to the mainland; Hydra, one of the most beautiful harbors in Greece, with cobbled streets, donkeys, and whitewashed bougainvillea-draped houses; Aegina, famous for its pistachios, where the first Greek coin was minted in 650 B.C, and the site of the Doric Temple of Aphaia. Built for the goddess of wisdom and light, it's one of the most well-preserved ruins on any Greek island. Peloponnese and mainland coast: Epidaurus, renowned for its proximity to the Ancient Greek healing center and acoustically perfect theater of Epidaurus, one of the wonders of the world. The tiny villages of Ermioni and Plaka (Leonidion); the beautiful city of Napflion, the second capital of Greece and crowned by the towering Palamidi Fort; or Astros, a village with miles of sandy beaches and the 13 th -century Astros Fort overlooking the harbor. With more time, you can visit more beautiful, less-traveled places.
The Cyclades Islands
Time needed: 14 DAYS minimum.

Situated in the center of the Aegean, the Cyclades Islands are best suited for those with previous sailing experience – wind and seas can at times be challenging. Quintessentially Greek: bright-white stucco churches, windmills, and houses perched on hillsides under a deep-blue sky. A little more touristy than the Saronic Isles/Peloponnese. Highlights: Kea, home of the ancient sculpted Lion of Kea, which guarded the island against intruders; Kythnos, a beautiful, sleepy island known for its hot springs; Serifos, with its high village (chora) towering above the harbor offering spectacular views of surrounding sea and islands. Sifnos has a laid-back vibe and good beaches, known for its clay pottery and cooking pots; and Milos, where the Venus de Milo was discovered; known for its stunning geology, including gemstones (obsidian), amazing rock formations, and clear turquoise sea.
Farther Afield: The Ionian, Sporades, or Dodecanese Islands
Time needed: 21-28 DAYS
The far-flung Ionian Islands, the Sporades Islands, and eastern-Aegean Dodecanese Islands are much farther away from our home base on Salamis (Salamina) Island, near Athens, where charters start and end. Exploring these island groups is possible by special request and arrangement, depending on your time frame and open weeks available. Delivery fees may apply.
